Including Chinatown, Little Tokyo, and the Arts District, Downtown is home to world-class cultural institutions, trendy eateries, and cool watering holes. In Los Angeles, you may find both brand new skyscrapers and historic relics like the 1781 settlement of El Pueblo de Los Angeles. The Walt Disney Concert Hall, whose distinctive steel building was built by Frank Gehry, serves as the centerpiece of the Music Center performing arts complex.
From Grand Central Market to the Staples Center, there is no shortage of tourist attractions in Downtown Los Angeles, making it a desirable place to stay. That’s why it’s a top pick for visitors to Los Angeles who won’t be bringing a car. Although it is the city’s historic core, the stately bank buildings have been converted into unique boutiques and award-winning eateries. Downtown LA is the city’s economic core, as seen by the concentration of high-rise buildings in the area. If you’re looking for great restaurants and a lively nightlife, you’ll find both here.
If you’re just in LA for a short time, I recommend staying in Downtown. There’s a lot to see and do there, and it’s also convenient to get to other popular neighborhoods like Hollywood, the Arts District, Chinatown, and Silver Lake. As an added bonus, there is a wide variety of high-quality hotels available for a low price. The Broad, Staples Center, and other concert halls like the Philharmonic are all located in this area, making it ideal for culture vultures.
Come to ROW DTLA to shop and dine. The 32 acres that make up this downtown retail mecca are home to a wide variety of independently owned stores, as well as cafes and other dining options. It houses both major corporations and small independent record labels under one roof. Sundays are the best day to visit Smorgasburg, a HUGE outdoor market filled with food trucks and stalls selling a wide variety of cuisines. The Staples Center, a movie theater, a bowling alley, nightclubs, restaurants, and even a museum are all part of LA Live, a vast entertainment complex. LA Live is a great place to visit when you don’t know what to do because there is always an exciting event taking on there.
The Downtown area is home to some excellent coffee shops. There are cafes serving excellent beverages from well-known manufacturers like Verve Coffee Roasters, Blue Bottle Coffee, and Stumptown Coffee. Cognoscenti Coffee, however, stands above the rest as the best coffee shop in LA, with two outlets not far from the city’s central business district.
